Schnees are wonderful.  Truly a standout outdoor product.

But in a tree, there is a lot to be said for gum soles.  Air bobs drop little bits of crud when you move and that can be a problem.

Roger - which ones do you have... Guide ADV or T/T?  I like the traction of the air bob sole, but am always impressed with how quiet the tire tread soles are on my bean boots.
I use the tire tread version,

If your wanting uninsulated I'd stick with the Beans, I've got a pair that's probably 6-7 yrs old and they're wearing fine. If your wanting something insulated then definitely look at the Schnees Outfitter II  with T/T soles they're good down to about 20*.

Steve
Yep thats right. Just get both and be done with it.
For the record I have both the unisulated beans and the insulated schnees. Love them both. I origianly had a pair on uninsulated schnees and I found the stiffer leather to pinch me in the heel area and so I sent them back and got the insulated ones.

Hoffman boots would be another good choice if your fine with a boot only 14" tall. I have a pair that I wear for work and they(the model I have) actually makes the schnees look weak.

Question on Schnees? Do you order one size larger to accommodate heavy wool socks? I wear a light cotton sock and a heavy wool sock.

I've got a like new pair of size 11 Schnee Hunters with a brand new extra pair of liners for sale at a very good price in the classifieds right now   :)

I have another pair that fits me better - should have ordered 11.5 to start with...

I have both Schnees and Bean Boots and like them both - the Schnees are heavier duty and their sole can't be beat. Great for the colder weather.

check out Hoffman boots. I just got the outdoors man. 1/2 as expensive as the others and I think its a better boot.

If it makes any difference: Monty Browning's favorite pair of everyday boots in the Alaskan bush is the LL Bean hunting boot. He beats them hard (trust me) and they don't fail.

Me...I've owned both and they are good boots. Schnee's has a good warranty and LL Bean has a lifetime return guarantee. Both are USA crafted. The Schnee's are typically heavier in weight and built for tougher duty. The Beaners are more of an eastern style boot in my mind. Neither boot is completely waterproof. If I was going to use the boots for serious long hikes and carrying packs I would likely get the Schnee's. For general purpose deer and situations requiring a boot you can use many ways, the LL Bean boot is a very good one.
Kevin is spot on... I own both.  If I want to go into town in January I will use the Beans.  If I want to check snares I'll grab the Schnees.

I don't think I could pick one over the other. I have two pair of each.

I have 15 yo daughter and the Beans are all the rage now with the young crowd. I hear they are getting hard to get the demand is so great.

I have two pairs. One of which has been back for new uppers once. Good boots in warm weather.

I have booth but like my Beans the best.  Also doesn't hurt to have two LL Bean Outlet stores with in 1/2 hour of me.  For the past month all the Bean boots were 20% off...that's 20% off the outlet price that is 35% off already!  Hard not to like 'em...tippit

If you go with Beans don't get the Bean Boots. The soles are hard for walking on pavement and the leather is cheap. You want the Beans Maine Hunting Shoe. I have the Bean Boots and they suck, but I will buy the Hunting Shoes in the near future. I also have the comparable Schnee's with air bob, great boot, the leather work is like artwork. Got the Hoffman pack boots, good boot for the money, and the Schnees Supreme, they all have their place.
