OK shoot Easton axis 400s, 55# Silvertip recurve - @28" arrows are cut to 28.5.

That has been my setup for yrs and yrs. I shoot 160 grain grizzles with 75 grain adapters, I have shot woodsmans 125 grains with 100 grain adapters. 175 grain VPAs. These shoot like lasers.

Wanted to get a touch heavier 3 blade and went with 250 grain VPAs. I seem to be getting an in flight tail wobble??? Now I know I am not perfect and poor release or follow up can always be a factor - but not every shot. I can alternate between arrow/arrowhead setups and the 250 VPAs wobble? my others do not? While I do not have a grain scale for a accurate number if I do redneck math just adding components there is almost a negligible grian weight difference.

Taking user error (me, and I know it is a factor) what else would/could account for such a thing.

I always fault "user error" first but this one is baffling me.

Wish I had some 340 axis or 500s to try out.

Thanks for in insight advice

Jason

What is the cutting diameter? If your new broadhead is wider than your fletching the front of the arrow may start steering the back.

Confused; are you shooting these with the adapters, like the other heads, or just the BH, so the total head weight is only slightly heavier than your previous set-ups?  If you added that heavy a head to the adapters, you have a much heavier head now, so you have radically changed the dynamic spine of the arrow, probably making it too weak to shoot with broadheads, although you might get away with it if you just had field points on there.  Have you checked the BH alignment?  If there is any wobble when you spin them on a flat surface, they aren't true, and will not shoot, even if the spine is correct.  These are just two possiblilites.  Paul.

So are you the one noticing the tail wobble or is it someone behind you watching the arrow flight while you give your full concentration to good form...I often wonder if in the process of watching the arrow fly the individual actually changes something about their form and then it just gets worse as they make a greater effort to see what is going on (kind of like "peeking" in golf)...one way to check that might be to go back to your original setup and see if they are still flying well...in general carbon arrows that are not right on the edge of being too soft in spine will tolerate some rather large increases in point weight

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

Sorry I missed the part about alternating between setups...if it was me I would just forget about shooting the heavier broadhead...if a 175 grain VPA will not do it for North American game it really does not need to be done

Screw on heads, and even then I got a spin tester ordered today. Want to be sure about the spin even though a screw in head

Very true but I am a tinker- ER?? However you say it! Lol

I went down the FOC and extreme FOC road before. Not my intentions here just a wonder at the tail wag of this set up with a touch heavier head.

Yeah no way shape "form" or fashion am I the perfect form person, but I do have my head down and on target. Kinda got my arrow in my line of sight. I use a bright fletch and can easily see em like a tracer round.

If the other heads are flying like lasers, and the new setup wobbles consistently, it does not sound like a release issue. Perhaps the new setup is just not compatible with your bow. Shoot the ones that fly well with total confidence.
