Let me know if you need a travel partner Izzy.
I could use a little time away.

I'm hunting hogs every time I go out, whether the primary quarry is deer, coyotes, or whatever. Hogs are when/where you find them around here, and they're always fair game. I guess I'm "fortunate" to have hogs to hunt... although they are destructive and a nuisance in many areas, at the present time anyway we seem to have enough of them to be interesting but not enough that they're a real problem - yet...

I keep looking at the Mahaska javelina hunt in West Texas. Maybe, just maybe.

Heading back to west Texas again the middle of Dec.  This will probably be my 12th - 14th year doing it - javelina's.  It is really a blast - always have to take lots of arrows though.  There are usually 6-8 of us trad guys that go.  I have become VERY good friends with the people on the ranch, and they charge next to nothing for us for a week.  They have a regular hunting camp with buildings, bunk house and all the cooking supplies there.  Just take your food.  We always have the ranch people over for supper every night - they appreciate it.  Then have a few adult beverages before they drive back to the main ranch houses.  We also take a gift each year for them.  Nothing huge, but they always remember that we treat them right and with respect.  Every year they invite us back.

I will be hunting hogs in south Florida the second week end in January with "True South Adventures". I am really looking forward to it.

I've been out in the Sumter National Forest in Abbeville for the last few evenings. It's been about 20 years since I've hunted this area, so I'm basically having to relearn the area. I've been slowly moving through the creek and river drainages, not really spending a whole lot of time in any one particular area.

So far, I've have seen a ton of sign and caught a few fleeting glimpses of several hogs. Practically every bit of water has pig sign around it. This evening, I found the freshest yet. It had to have been less than an hour or two old. The wind wasn't in my favor though, so I'm going to try tomorrow in the same spot from the opposite direction.

I bet I've seen over 100 turkeys in the last week, too. Those suckers are everywhere.

Going back with Mule Creek in Feb. Really looking forward to it,I think we're going spend a week there every year or as long as Jacob and Shawn can put up with us..It's the highlight of my hunting season!

It will be my 13th annual trip to hunt hogs with a bunch of friends the first week of January with Hoppy Kempher. Always a great time with a lot of action.
