Gday again guys,

Well in a few months I'm moving house that will give me ample room again to make up quality shafts and turn them into quality arrows...both for hunting and general shooting.

I've not had the chance to make up woods as I've been lacking a workshop but my new place will have heaps of room and so I'll look into again stocking up on some quality timber shafting.

So guys... please give me a heads up in regards to who's stocking quality shafting for bows in the 65# make? If they are tapered even better. And Im chasing a total arrow weight of somewhere between 600~700 grains.

My first call would be to Surewood for wood shafts. Though I haven't used them myself (yet), I have traded PMs with Steve a few times regarding getting started with woodies, and he has always been quick to help. I've not heard a bad thing about them yet, and they are a sponsor.

Braveheart Archery has Douglas fir shafts (Surewoods) that are great quality and finish out at 620 grains with my 130 gr broadheads.  By tapered do you mean for heads and nocks or not parallel with the shaft thinned down from tip to tail?  I taper my own - the last 12" down to 5/16" - but they sell tapered P.O. cedar as well.

You'll have to check with them regarding shipping; but I'm sure with enough dollars (sensible of Australia to use one like ours) I'm sure it can happen.  They do mention overseas shipping accommodations.

Doug Fir from Surewood is second to none. I am glad to hear good things about Kevin Forrester looking forward to giving him a try.

Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear is known for the quality of their wood shafts, well that and everything else! They check spine and weight on every shaft so when you get a dozen shafts they are all very very close to each other in weight and stiffness.

The majority of arrow orders I fill are made from Surewood Shafts douglas fir. I have always received positive feedback from these shafts. I use them for my own personal arrows also.  Doug fir makes a good stable and strong shaft without being too heavy. Yet it does have a better mass weight and is more durable than lighter woods. A good all around wood to make arrows out of.

Cheers for all the options guys... At this stage I'm looking at Doug fur for everyday deer arrows and some of the exotic shafting on offer from Forrester.
