I was out in the bow shop this morning and got a call from my youngest son in Iraq. He and my oldest, who has served two tours, are both serving there in the 1st Army ID, and have been in country for 16 months. Seems they are coming home soon! This has been a long tour for them, but for me too. I have had trouble getting into hunting this year as my sons are my hunting partners.

This got me to thinking that there are others on this website who have sons and daughters serving around the world and here at home to protect our rights, our way of life and the right to be for or against hunting in general, and the freedom of speech allowed either side. I want to personally thank those families for their sacrifice up to and including those who have lost loved ones on the field of honor.

To you Tradgangers who are currently serving out there, God bless you. My words of thanks for your service fall short of my appreciation.

To our veterans here on Tradgang who have served, I thank you, appreciate you and will never be able to repay you for your willingness and honor with which you have served.

Our Canadian friends just observed Rememberance Day. I send the same regards north. God bless.

Why should this be on Powwow? Well, remember that we, as hunters, have been given the right to pursue our sport because there are those who willingly stepped into harms way in order to assure we could. We must remember that those same brave souls faught for others to be against our sport, and to speak out against it. As a bowhunting instructor in Montana, I remind all my students that we are a small percentage of the population. We should remember those who served for a small group to have the freedoms we enjoy, and carry ourselves in such humility, while being granted our constitutional right to boldly persue happiness. And I miss my hunting partners.
