I have been all over the website but I can't determine the difference between Shawnee and Cheyenne handles? I see the bolt goes in from the rear on the Shawnee but what else is different?
In the past I had had one pc Dakotas, Cougars, Arapahos and even a 2pc Dakota. But I don't know about the 3pc bows. I plan to get a recurve and asked Bob what lengths he recommended for my draw. But I wasn't clear on the handles.

Cheyenne is more reflexed in the riser. Shawnee is more straight.

Also, Cheyenne has more mass to the rise than a Shawnee.

Terry isn't the Cheyenne more de flexed? I might be wrong, but I thought the foward design was deflexed

Yeah...I probably said it backwards...the riser on the Cheyenne curves back to the shooter more.

Seems like the straighter riser would be loading the limbs more at brace.

I have quite a collection on Shawnees. They are great bows, but the Cheyenne riser is probably more forgiving of errors.
That said, I'm picking up one more Shawnee after work today at the post office!
Bob Morrison makes some awesome bows and I'm sure you would be happy with either the Shawnee or a Cheyenne.
If you were closer, you could shoot a couple of my Shawnees to see how you like them.

I have two or three of each and loved them all. I would say my Cheyenne was more forgiving in the long run but I held on to my last Shawnee it was just a shooter. Great bows

I love my Cheyenne. Great shooting bow and very forgiving for the lower brace height. Super fast
and dead in the hand. I recommend the carbon foam limbs.

However I do not have any experience with the Shawnee so I cant help you there.

I have it narrowed down to the Cheyenne in 60" or 62" length depending on the riser length. Does anyone dislike the short Cheyenne riser? Do you ever lose sight of the arrow when shot?
I'm currently hunting with a BW PCH 60" length. That combo works well at my draw.

I have the Short riser and love it. it will be very similar to the PCH if not better in that it is a thinner/narrower profile.

I've shot a bunch of bows and my Cheyenne is my all time favorite. Bob's limbs are second to none and are what make these bows what they are. Highly recommend the foam cores. Smooooooth and fast. Can't go wrong with either riser.

I have 2 Shawnees and 1 Cheyenne I would say the biggest difference to me is the mass weight of the Cheyenne.

Josh, here is a Medium grip

Yes it is a medium grip but is honestly a little lower than a standard medium. I really like it.

The full pinecone feels great as well.

My understanding is that the Shawnee works best with "hybrid" limbs and the Cheyenne works best with recurve limbs but I could rightfully be accused of not knowing what I'm taking about.  The Cheyenne is also heavier.  

Call Bob and let him know what you've got in mind and what you're thinking of for yourself and what questions you have.  He'll lead you through any choices you may have to make.  He's the expert on these bows.

It's in his best interest for you to end up not only with what you want but to be satisfied with it. He's a good guy (the majority of bowyers we deal with are) and you'll be further ahead for doing it.

One thing to keep in mind:

The last time I spoke with Bob he was not making limbs. He told me that he is getting to old to mess with all that glass. However it is my understanding that he is still making handles and has a number of standard cheyenne limbs in stock.
The max-1's are amazing by the way!

He is really pushing ILF these days as the limbs are made by other and he adds skins and other to them. With this he will make a handle for them, and they are very nice!

Again, this is my understanding as I havent spoken to him since the Spring when I sent my handle to him to get pineconed.
