I am looking at a Damon-Howatt Martin Mamba.  The bow has black glass and grey (actionwood) I believe handle.  Any idea how old?  Here is the photo from the Ad.

Opinions on the Mamba?  I have a Super Diablo that I like.  I am switching over to left handed and well I just have a shorter draw LH.  My draw is only about 26.5 left handed and 27 right handed.

Thoughts on the 58" Mamba?

I had a High speed and it was a good bow , I think the Mamba is very similar .

The Mamba is a great bow and you'll do well with it with your draw length.

Looks like a 80's model.Great shooting bow!

I used to get caught up in how old a bow was...now I just think about how well it shoots...when was the last time you were shooting a bow and thought "wow I am shooting a 1962 K Mag" eh Ray...every time I pick that bow up I like it a little better

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

Oh that is cruel Dave.  It's only mitigated by the fact that I have an incredible shooting Bear Take-Down in 58" length and Super Shrew Lil Favorite in 56"length.  That kmag you've got from me indirectly is a quiet and dandy shooter for sure. Those Mamba's are great little bows too.

I love mine.  It is an O2 and shoots great.  I just had to reseal mine after a rainy hunt because the glass soaked up moisture.

Mambas are great bows. They actually built a special number of those in the early 60's for the Army in Vietnam. No stacking and that short 58" will shoot with the longer bows.

Your model was also the bow that was used to shoot the arrow thru the hoop to light the Barcelona Olympic's up if I'm not mistaken.

Great proven design with more than a quiver full of history behind it.
                                         Good Shooting,

You are one of the best shooters in the country, tell me about switching to left hand. Bill

mine stacked, it went from 65# at 26 to 84# at 28. It was marked 80@28 and would really spit out a 2419..........
Bowhunting is "KILL and EAT" not "Catch and Release".....Semper Fi!

65# at 26"......how could you tell it stacked     I have wanted a Mamba for a long time. I just never see one for sale at a weight I can handle. Great bows.
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Most Martin/Damon Howatt seem to be more weight than marked.  I have a Super Diablo that is marked 60#@28, but is 60# @ 27" .  Do others have this experience also? Is there any reason, way they measure the weight?

I have a Mamba in the classifieds...not sure why . It's shoots good for me, I just always grab the bears instead. Haven't scaled mine but it feels right.

I had a Mamba for a while about 15 years ago. It was marked 70# @ 28 but at my 29" drawl length it hit the wall. Loved the looks and the length but decided it was too short for my draw length and sold it.

Anyone else?  Thoughts on this bow.

I have a Mamba that has the same wood pattern and it is 1980's. It is #55 at 28".  I find that mine does stack beyond 28", but maybe it just feels that way because I normally shot a #45 bow  It does zip an arrow out there though.
