hunted 3 nights in a row close to my house from a stand overlooking a back field where i have saw a load of deer over the years. NADDA in 3 nights so decided to give it a rest for a night. on a whim i decided just before dark to take a walk around the fields looking for pheasants. peaked over the little knoll where my stand is in the last field and there stood a nice buck 5 yards in front of my stand! tried to put the sneak on him but got busted at 60 yards......

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Worse yet, Is when ya go on your morning hunt and see nothing, And when ya go on the evening hunt ya retrace your steps, And they have deer tracks all over them..

I've had a couple of does look back at me and give me "the hoof" while standing between 2 "No Hunting" signs.

Several times I've went out for 4-5hrs & haven't seen anything except squirrels. I come home & my wife tells me that  a deer (sometimes a buck,sometimes a doe)was browsing at the edge of our lawn 20yds behind our home.

You could try using milkweed fluf to see just where the air is really moving to. Sometimes it can really fool you.

Killdeer

Seen while delivering mail. Glad I had my camera.    :biglaugh:

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.
