Dragging my sweaty butt back to the car that is.
I did have an eventful day though. Started out nice this morning, and then just heated up by mid-day.

I went out at a place I have not hunted in a couple years. This place usually holds a lot of deer since there is some really thick cover over a large section. I started by trying to get up on some high ground, and then I would work my way down hunting spot and stalk.

Wow, this place really grew in. I had a tough time working my way through. I came upon a little open spot where 3 trails made a junction. There was a pretty fresh scrape being started. I was surprised at the sign, and though, I must be moving deer ahead. Just after a short rest and a pic of the scrape, I heard some movement. Sure enough, a deer was standing right on the other side of a wall of grape vines about 15 yards away. Nothing I could do through all those vines. The deer turned and sauntered off through the brush.

I eventually worked my way down to a field that is full of grass and clover. So many trails led to this spot. There were plenty of deer droppings around too. I found a nice blow down on the edge of the field that would make a great hide for an evening hunt. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be this evening.

Worked my way down through the hard woods back to the car, and I sure was hot! 73 degrees.

I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
