Numerous people I have mentioned the fickle wind of the mountains. I was constantly checking it and it seemed like it was always coming in from a different direction. I am used to the much more constant winds of the prairie.  It must be a bull 's best friend.

The swirling mountain wind busted me last week, and I suspect it will do it again a few times. As you say, it can be a good compadre to a wapiti. It goes with the territory.
