This is the story. I got in the stand at twilight and got settled in. Over dressed and a little over heated but my fingers cold. I had the mitts with the cut off fingers and ragg woolies underneath so they warmed up pretty quick. About 7:00 I spotted a very small deer at the edge of the clearing. Being as it was alone I figured it was a button buck. It came on out and got broadside at 18 yards. I am thinking there has got to be bigger deer moving today. So I guess I counted coup on that one and watched it feed off to the right. About 1/2 hour goes by and I get this bad urge to pee. So I scan the area and hang my bow up. Remove my gloves and start getting to the task on hand of getting thru all the clothes. I get that done and back together. Get my water bottle out for a drink (I am moving a lot and makin some noise) Put the bottle back and just decided to look out front of me and there he was in the clearing looking into the woods. So I get my bow and nock an arrow as quietly as I could-still there. Something in the woods had his attention. He was 25 yards hard quartering away. Not my favorite shot. I pick the spot low on him thinking he may try to duck the string. No he did not move untill the arrow was in him. It appeared I might have hit too low and he left the area. I got down to see what kind of blood I could find and go from there. No arrow no blood for fifty yards. I turn around and start over.Still nothing. I decided to go over the next ridge and see what I could see. I topped it and there he was. He had made it about 150 yards and had taken a different path than I had thought. I did find the blood trail while dragging him back toward the stand. The hit took out the bottom of the right lung and went in behind the rib cage angled forward. It hit a littlte farther back than I was looking but it worked. WW 2016 that Dale made for me with the new design Cheeta bow. I have had a dry spell to say the least with a bow. I will let that spot cool for a while. I guess I could call him a six pointer. I think he might be three years old and probably needed to be harvested. Not a pretty rack.

For a guy who has not killed a deer, much less a buck, in a couple of years, the rack on yours is beautiful. Congratulations.   :bigsmyl:

I agree, he just looks too mature to be 1 1/2 yrs old.

Good shooting.
