Last deer season I got hung up on a bit of barbed wire on a downed fence. I patched the hole with a bicycle inner tube patch and kept hunting. Does anyone know of a better fix for this boot? the hole's about 1/4" long and I'd really hate to have to replace them for the cost, but I need them for crossing a creek to get to my favorite set/stand.

Thanks!

Is the patch leaking???.......If not, carry on!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

I have had good luck with a hot glue gun in the past. Depends a lot on location.

I would try mixing up some epoxy and putting it in there.

i sprayed a pair of hip waders with the flex seal stuff, hole ( more of a slice) was thru and thru, sprayed inside and out and it seems to be holding well.
i have used goop and a tire patch before on boots that also worked well.

Clear silicone has worked well for me.   It's flexible and lasts for years.  Never have had it leak.  I clean the area and smooth it over the area with my finger.

Shoe Goop. You can get it a Wallyworld. I live the RV Goop better also at WW. It's by automotive in the RV supplies in a red tube. Very good stuff

Marine goop is what I use. I have a 21 year old pair of lacroose rubber boots that are basically held together with marine goop and still water proof. Works aawesome, is flexable, and holds up great. Might be worth a try.

A few years ago on one of our wilderness moose hunts my wife tore a hole in  her new hip waders from a screw sticking out of the old freighter canoe we were using.

That night I rummaged around for whatever I could use to patch it well enough to last until the end of the hunt.

I had a couple of jumbo elastics along that I make from old tire tubes (great for all sorts of things), and  I cut a circular piece from one of them. I also had a tube of silicon called "shoe goop" or similar name (I just noticed that others have recommended shoe goop too, so my recollection of the name was correct).

I cleaned and roughed up the surface area where I would be applying the silicon and then went ahead with the patching, applying weight on the patch and giving it an entire day to cure.

Years later, the waders are no longer new, but surprisingly, the "temporary" patch is still as solid and as totally waterproof as the day I made it.
May your next adventure lighten your heart, test your spirit, and nourish your soul.

Shoe Goo. My old duck hunting partner tore a 6" long gash in his waders which he had just purchased. He took Shoe Goo and stuck the sides together and let cure over night with some weight on it to hold it and no jokin, he used those waders for 2 seasons before they tore again. For your repair you should put some type of backing on the inside and goop it up on the outside and let it cure. I used it to stop a leak on the toe of my pro-lines too. Works great.

Shoe Goo.  Lots of years of repairs. . . and they last years.

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.
