Well, I'm short on funds but have acquired a whole box of dried moose and caribou antler from above the artic circle. One of the pieces of caribou antler is crying out to be made into a atl-atl handle and I have acquired some nice bamboo.....the only thing I'm lacking is some turkey feathers, sinew, flint, and the knowledge to properly......the first two things I'm pretty sure I can find and hunting around the flint can be found but the knowledge??? Anyone here make their own points or know where to find good instruction? Thanks

youtube my friend.  I have been knapping since I was 13 (I am 35 now)  hence my username.  But I'm amazed at the information on youtube I wish I had that resource when I was learning as a newby.  just search flint knapping and you will find all you need and more but be aware that it is another addicting hobby. I gained the skills I needed to build pretty much any point I need well and so I have cooled on it but for a while there that was all I did.  if you have access to good stone, and Indiana is a good place,  and you have access to good tools, and finally good info, you are well on your way.  Good luck its a journey and it takes a few years but you will totally pick it up and be successful.  Feel free to pm me for more info or questions for direction

I have been knapping for a couple of years and killed one deer with one of my stone points.  Beside you tube you should try and make it to a knap in or two.  A good one coming up and one that I try not to miss is Flint Ridge in Ohio.  Google for info. Tons ( no pun intended) of rock for sale and some of the best knappers in the U.S will be there and most will be glad to help you with some hands on instruction.

CMH, we have a few vendors at our trad. shoot that are flintknappers and I'm pretty sure they would have what you looking for. Our shoot is September 5th.-7th. at Farmland conservation club just east of Muncie which would be about an hour drive for you. Come over and check them out.

I've been knapping for several years now. I'm fortunate enough to have a master flint knapper that lives 3 miles away from me. He showed my brother this ancient art years ago and we've been good friends and hunting buddies even longer! Youtube is a valuable resource, but also look into paleo planet (  http://paleoplanet69529.yuku.com/forums/10/Flintknapping-General-Discussion#.U-nFzekg_IU  )There is a lot of information, materials, and supplies there as well.

It will take literally a ton or two of rock before you become really proficient. Here a few that I've chipped this year.
