I cut the tip off one of my fingers so 60# is about as low as I can go

Having had a well established shooting form for many years  I find that practicing with a light bow(under 45#) offers my shooting style no benefit in accuracy and actually throws off my timing, muscle tension, release, and ranging instincts.  I'm pretty boring in my archery exploits being exclusively a hunter that stump/field shoots for practice sticking with one bow for pretty long periods until a better shooting one happens along. I did go through a draw weight reduction about a dozen years ago due to a torn muscle.  Went from 65# down to 50-55#.

For me anything under 65# makes me shake like mad and my release is horrible!  I need to feel the bow and the draw so I can hold still at full draw and be calm.

I recently shot (April) 925 shots from a 20 pound bow, testing a target's durability. Yep, I counted them all and took pictures of the Rinehart insert every 100 shots. 700 of the shots went in one side and then I put another 225 in the other side. I normally shoot 46-50 pound draw weights.

I found the process monotonous and tiring, but the bonus was it helped to further lock in my shooting process. By the way, when I started this test I was simply wanting to get through the test. After a single end of 25 arrows I realized I could do serious harm to my personal shooting if I didn't treat every shot properly.

I had to make sure my form was correct at all times or I would have ruined my serious shooting.

Due to bad shoulders I have had to drop in weight or have surgery.
I am shooting 30# and shooting better than ever.
Not enough for hunting but kills foam very well.
