Well, even though I saw no deer, I still had an awesome hunt, on the way to my blind I passed up an easy 5yard shot at a rabbit hiding in a briar patch, he thought I could not see him, but I did not shoot him because I did not want to spook any of the deer, after a half an hour in my blind I saw what looked like a small coyote, but when it came in closer, I realized, it was a fox, the first one I have ever seen, then ten minutes after that, a cat came by with a feildmouse in his mouth, then right when everything seemed quiet, a little dog came by with a bell on his collar, that scared the deer away for sure, why was there a dog and a cat where I hunt?, well theres a house about 100 yards behind my blind, so even though I saw no deer, I still saw lots of tracks and some cool stuff, I'm hooked!

If the dog is a regular part of the landscape you might be surprised how tolerant of it the deer can be.

Heh - rabbit season just opened up here Friday and on Saturday, we were up to our you-know-whats in bell-clad beagles.

Some loud goober scared a decent sized one-antlered buck (before the beagles showed up) and he ran right past me (down the trail I was ambushing) at warp speed.  He spotted my son on up the trail and darted off at a right angle.

Public land - what are ya gonna do?  :-D
