wondering about any 2 & 3 blade broadheads with cutouts or vents in the blades like woodsman, Kustom King, stinger  vs non vented BH's like VPA, Ace, Stos...... I've heard this before about rib bones or other fleshy things sometimes catching into the venting holes as the broadhead travels thru and possibly hanging up the arrow or even preventing a pass thru..

has anyone ever "suspected" this might of happened even once?

I've used both and havent had enough successes to weigh the odds.

The only thing I've noticed about vented heads is I always hear a hiss from them. I know there are "tricks" that are supposed to help..and they do help, but I can still hear it.

Whether or not it makes a difference...probably not much.

What I do know is a helluva lot of game has been taken with vented heads..a LOT.

I'm not sure that anyone can really tell what happened to a BH as in penetrated and animal.  My experience has been that most people try to blame the BH when the cause was a bad shot.  I have shot both vented and non vented VPA.  I like the non vented for the strength.  No other reason.  The last month before the deer season I shot my BH's exclusively and have had the blades on the vented heads get waves in them that effect accuracy. I have since stepped up to a 125 non-vented VPA for my piece of mind.

I like the woodsman original but use the 200 vpa because they don't hiss.

None of the deer I have killed with woodsman Elites (That is all I have used and love them no plans to change) have ever complained!!! Some call it the whistle of death. As far as penetration nothing has beat them in my test.      Widow

don't care about the hiss noise honestly I use EV Howlers on almost all my arrows which makes the arrow sound like a zipper and by the time deer hear it and start to drop my broadheads already touching, results usually a bit high but my favorite hit is a high lung hit they go down quicker than a heart shot so it all works out..

the vented question was do you ever wonder or thought that say upon a vnted broadhead splitting through a rib do you think the rib bone could catch into that opening..

Agreed that Deer usually don't complain with any broadhead unless you made a really bad shot or the broadhead failed then yes they do complain loudly.

I've used the Woodsman original since Gene & Barry started mass producing them.

But I ran a chainsaw for almost 40 years ... what hiss?

Ive been using 160 snuffers for over 20 yrs. Never had any deer react to the hiss...... Had a few duck from limb hitting my stand though.......
Bowhunting is "KILL and EAT" not "Catch and Release".....Semper Fi!

I like the thought of a smooth head, but have used Woodsmans and Razorheads without any issues.  I'm shooting heavy heads these days and they tend to be non vented.
