I plan on filming some whitetail hunts this season using a new Go Pro.  I love how easy it is to mount and use, and the clarity is awesome... but because the lens is such a wide angle I can't even see the arrow impact the target at 15 yards.   Any of you guys us a Go Pro to film your hunts?  Any tips?

Cool video, I like the over the shoulder type angle. Was the camera mounted on your hat for that?

No problem homebru.  I knew about that forum but I know most guys just look at the powwow and I wanted to ask the broadest audience.  Probably should have just done as you suggested.

Thanks. I was wearing a head strap which places the camera right on for forehead like a head lamp.

There's a guy on here that does some videos with a camera like that. I don't know if he's a sponsor,but it's sort of his business,maybe he will get on here and say something. That's a pretty good video. I always like videos and lots of pictures.

Nice vid.I have been using the sony action cam video taping shooting and fishing. Fun to catch the action on tape.  

Oh I also use a sony hand held. They take better vids but not as portible as the go pro or action cam. I use both to film with.

Here`s a vid I made using both cameras. sony action cam on my head and the close up are the with my sony handi cam. There are some nice camera mounts for tree stand hunting for the full size camera. I have been filming for awhile and I think you need both cameras to get good footage. You can also crop your vids to make the taget look closer with the go pro just a little blurry. But I still like the go pro vid. Here is a vid using both cameras. I use syber link power director editing program. Keep filming I will sub your youtube channel.

I am all for back yard practice and glad to see your city allows such. It looks like your shooting is in great shape.

I'm just going to make one observation...and please don't crucify me for this...I'm not looking for an argument.

Some sort of backstop might offer your neighbor a little more protection. I hear horse mats work well and you could put some on your fence?

Safety first! You would feel awful if an arrow went astray. And it does happen. I live in the country, shoot into my own 2 acre vacant field.

There's a few arrows out there from me and my friends.

I should probably keep my nose out of your business.

I hope you take this OK. Some guys are real sensitive and don't like to hear stuff like this, so just take it for what it's worth.

That's ok I hear about it all the time about shooting in my back yard. been doing it 35 years and will keep doing it. I would not shoot a gun back there. Thanks for your concern. Arrow has never went any where near anyone or thing. Now when I was a kid I would shoot at pigeons on the roofs of the next door neighbors and my arrows flew every where out of my kid recurve but I do not shoot up in the air or at house's or cars or people. Trust me it is safe where I shoot. Plus my neighbor is never home and don`t care if I shoot back there and to the right is my house and the left is a large empty lot and in front is an old garage that I never hit. Its really a nice little place to shoot but I am the only one that shoots there. Thanks

Not super traditional but makes self filming a hunt really nice - GO with lighted nocks.  

I have never used them but there was a guy in bear camp this spring with a GP cam with the head strap and he shot his bear with a lighted nock.  The footage was awesome.
