Was wondering how the Velcro works for rest plate. I use a calf hair now but a friend of mine seems to like the Velcro. Any thoughts?

Velcro is mostly all I use. It seems quieter and more forgiving to me.

Damn convenient! Adhesive already on it, easily available etc..

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

While elk hunting a few years ago, after going thru the brush on horseback, in the dark. I noticed my sideplate had come off. I took some Velcro from my watch band and viola', back in business. Shot a bull two days after that.

Works great and, as mentioned, is kind of archery designed with the adhesive already in place.  Another good option is the wooly things that you can get for the bottom of furniture legs.  I use both depending on what I have laying around available when needed with good results.

Velcro...durable, quiet, inexpensive, accurate, easily avaible, easy to replace, no retuning requirements...doubt bowyers would be either supplying or recommending its use on bows that may cost up to two grand.

Note: recommend using industrial grade

Yup Velcro works awesome.  Furniture pads work great if you need a thicker strike plate as mentioned.

I have a real light bow that is used for 3-d ing only and have actually used the loop side of the velcro (non-fuzzy) as the side plate. There is a slight noise but flight is really slick.

I've setup at least a dozen bows using velcro. It can't be beat for price, if I need to bump a side plate out I use leather boot lace. The best bang for the buck is go to one of your big box home improvement stores, they carry super strong velcro that is 2" wide by 4' long, lots of rests can be made from that.

lbshooter

I have used it for quite a while.  Seems to last forever and, cleans up very easily when it gets dirty when shooting in rain/mud.  I use it for both the arrow plate and shelf.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you this but It's thicker than calf hair and can affect arrow tune. Especially the industrial stuff.

Wow guys thanks a million lots of good thoughts I'm ready to replace my plate going to give it a try. THANKS!

I also use calf hair....my favoirite, and the quietest I've found.

Be careful with Velcro, works, but can be noisy on the draw with some arrows.

Thanks Terry I never thought to listen to my friend or his sons bows at draw so next time we shoot I will stand near and listen.

Terry Green
