My wife Marcia and I were on a walk down our driveway with our chocolate lab Lucy a few days ago. Little did we know we crossed the path of this little guy.

Oh just a few minutes earlier...
Pretty neat

There has been quite a bit of footage of one about that size following a couple of hikers on local TV...lots of fuss about it but at no time does the bear look the least bit aggressive...kind of looks like it is just enjoying the stroll and maybe hamming it a bit for the camera

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

We have quite a few bears here but rarely see them. In the 24 years we've lived on our 25ac we have only had 2 face to face sightings, both times it was a sow with cub the second time 3 cubs. In every encounter the bear(s) were gone before I had a chance to be concerned.
Last fall a hunter in the mountains of Greenville County SC shot a 609# black bear. Where the bear was shot was less than 10 miles from here. That was a record bear for SC. Most big ones around here are 250# to 350#.

I think Lucy and the bear must be friends. She sure didn't act any different. I guess she's used to their smell. There are times at night when Lucy will be outside barking. If she stays on the porch it probably bears or coyotes around. If she runs out in the yard and woods it's probably deer or coons.  She doesn't chase them she just runs them off then back home.
