About 3 years ago I decided too much weight and too many years ruled out hunting with my Loggy Byou climbing stand. Have spent many great hours being a sniper and deer did not suspect any danger. A few horror stories about careful hunters that just made a simple mistake or equipment failure caused a life changing accident. Sixty year olds do not bounce. Still hunt from low ladder stands and Double Bull blind.
Wondered how many other Tradgangers gave up the high tree hunting.
Tried to quit using climber for 3 years and would see big buck sign and get right back up there.
Finally made the decision to sell it in self defense.
How has age changed your hunting, and any Blind hunting tips? Thanks, Roy

For the most part a good spot in a tree is a good spot to be on the ground. It's mostly a matter of attitude not altitude.

Age has changed me the same way. I am spending much more time on the ground. I still use tree stands some, but not over ten feet or so high.

55 here and I still use my Summit Viper; especially with a bow. Have 1 17' fixed stand and I go about the same in my climber.

I am still in trees - lone wolf climber - chippewa hang on - but I would not say I set up "high" - I am a bow only hunter since the 70s and I would say 18 ft is the highest I put my feet - preferring 12 to 15. Yes this is enough where I would not want to bounce of course - but w a climber I am never unattached w my eagle harness - with hang ons I do a 3 point climb and secure first thing. I'm good w this. At 57 I know it is coming but can't imagine not hunting from trees. I hunt from the ground all the time - but only when I think it is the best option due to game sign and movement regardless of tree availability.

We are VERY selective about what brands/equipment we use. Most treestands I wouldn't use 7 feet up - but thats another discussion.
