I was wondering what sponsors sell wood arrows tuning kit. I was wondering if any of them sell them with fletching and already with nock and field point ready. I have a Fletcher not really worried about that but I'm worried about the arrows not sealed with finish, I dont have the stuff to do that and want to try wood arrows from my bob lee longbow. Any help would be appreciated thanks brad

Wilderness Custom Arrows or any of the custom arrow makers should be able to make you up a test kit.

if you want to try it yourself, sealing shafts is real easy.  Taper the nock end first.  I used a water based poly wipe on.  Two coats did well. Allow them to thoroughly dry before the second coat.  Use a clothes pin and hang them by the point end to dry.

I called David at Wilderness Custom Arrows and talked with him about my bow, draw length, etc.  then I asked him to send me a set of three arrows with different point weights.

I am sure there are plenty of good guys here that could make a good set of test arrows for you, but I am convinced you will not find a better guy to work with than Snag.

I intend to order a set of arrows soon from. Snag.

Thanks I have three dozen of snags arrows for my recurves need to give him a call,  i want to shoot them out of my longbow now. I would just like to have some wood arrows of different spines so I could tinker with my other bows. I dont have the stuff to seal the arrows or fit the nocks or field tips. Thought it would be easier for now to find a shop who would do that for me I dont need any fancy arrows now until I know what spine I really need. Thanks

If you buy a woody test kit of finished arrows, I would suggest having them identifiable in some way.  Say 50-55 are one fletch color, or nock color.  Next spine a different color.  Or even crested differently.  Will make it easier keeping track of what arrow is what spine.

Have three different spine kits ready to ship. We can cut to length and install points as well. Just have to order the points extra.

Yep, on identifying the arrows. Snag wrote the spine range on each arrow for me.

IMO, with test arrows it is best to have the exact spine marked on the shaft, not just a range.  A decent set of test arrows will have spines with 2 lb spacing; 3 lb max.  50-55 is 6 lbs and marked with a range, you never really know what spine you are shooting.  50-55 and 55-60 can both have 55 lb spine arrows.  It can make getting good results confusing.

A good set of test arrows is one of the best investments and tools a wood arrow shooter can have.

Babs, what range do you think you will need?

I wrote the spine on with a wood burner then finished over it

My bow is 50 lbs at my 29 inch draw length and the bow is cut to center. My bows are all 47-50lbs at my draw. I just want a few different spines to have on hand so I can fine tune all my bows to wood arrows than I can order the right shafts

Brad, I responded to your message. I like to do as Fletcher stated with marking the exact spine on the arrow.

I responded to your message Brad. I like to do as Fletcher stated with the spine weight on the arrow...ie 64#, 52#, etc.
