What have you found to work well for kids?  I set up a 30 lb Browning Mowhawk with a Retreiver, new Cajun lightweight shaft and an Innerloc Pro Point.  I figured the Innerloc with it's flat barbs would help with penetration, but first shot on a 3 lb carp all I got back was a couple of scales stuck on the tip.  Gonna try again with a regular solid glass arrow, but shot is gonna have to be close.

A couple years back Guru (Curt) was workin' with Cade to get his first fish and the arrows that Cade was shooting were bouncing off.  However, Curt came up with a modified fishpoint that actually had a COI broadhead point on the front that did the trick.  

I don't have the link, but maybe Curt hisself will jump in and give you the link that described and showed the broadhead sharp fish point.

When my kids were younger had same problem. I cut the barbs half way off to that the tip didn't have to penetrate as far before the barbs could do those job. Made a huge difference. Find away to make the distance from tip to end of barbs as small as possible.

When my kids couldn't shoot over 25 pounds I would take a fiberglass fisharrowshaft and put a field point on it.
Drilled a hole through the side of the field point just smaller than a 4 penny nail then bent the nail back almost flush with the point. Ended up with a skinner barb on one side only.

I used these myself when I didn't want to mess up muzzy when fun shooting.
