Dryad Orion ACS Shooters, I'd love to hear about your setups.  

Which riser length do you prefer and why?

Which limb design, static recurve or longbow, do you primarily shoot, and what overall length bow?

Any input on the standard grip?  Did you request any particular tweaks to the standard grip?

Have any pictures of your setup you could share?

Before I harass Mike Westvang and the gang with questions I'd love to be able to get some input on your bows and why you went with your particular setup.  I've done the requisite Pow Wow searches, but I'd love to compile some info in one thread, both for myself and for any others considering a Dryad bow.

We got a couple. I have a 17" Orion with XL ACS CG limbs, wife has a 15" Orion with XL ACS RC limbs and I have an unmentionable brand 17" riser with the ACS RC Legend ILF limbs. Length has a lot to do with your draw length. I have 31"draw so longer is better. Wife has a 29" draw so her setup was just a bit shorter. Mike recommends certain length setups for certain draw lengths. They are all exceptionally smooth drawing and highest craftsmanship. The RC limbs are definetly faster than the CG limbs. My wife is getting almost 170fps at over 12gpp. I'm getting 195fps at 9.2gpp. Even though the RC limbs are a little faster, I personally recommend the CG or 4G limbs. They are super smooth and super quiet and very stable! My buddy was shooting about 11gpp on his CG limbs and didn't even have string silencers on and it was quiet!

Orion medium grip: a personal favorite...facilitates consistent hand placement, solid and does not move even in hot, humid and sweaty conditions

Set-up 1....17" Orion riser w/ACS RC Longs....45@28....smooth, quick and accurate...she had relentlessly left the stable in order to make way for two needed hunting bows.

Set-up 2.... 15" Orion riser w/ACS RC longs.... 60" bow.. 52@28... Feels like most 62"r's I am familiar with... the 1st 60"r of which I have been most pleased.... the bow I hunted with in NZ

Set-up 3.... 17"Orion riser w/ACS RC longs.... 62" bow... 50@28...only slightly smoother than the 60"r...a little more mass....excellent shooting experience

Set-up 4....19" Titan III riser w/ACS RC Mediums....42@28....still getting acquainted....smooth and comfortable are the 1st impressions.


Only personal negative finding: Did not care for the 15" riser w/ACS RC Medium limbs....shot great however... I was a little uncomfortable with the preload and draw...should be great for shorter draw lengths...this particular bow has proven to be a superb fit for my good trad buddy "shed hunter" who has a much shorter draw length.

Just one more thought. I never shot a longbow real well but longbow limbs on a recurve riser and I'm sshooting better than ever. Quietness of a longbow and shoots as easy as a recurve.

19" Morrison gen2 metal ILF riser with ACS 4G longs, custom Loesch grip, 64", smooth as warm butter and VERY stable.

I have a Dryad Orion with ACS RC limbs.My riser is a 17" with a low grip with long limbs making a 62" bow.It is one of my flattest shooting bows,draws smoothly.I plan on getting some longbows limbs for it in the future.The ACS RC limbs are fast but alittle noiser then some of my other recurves.I have been playing around with some different string materials.I had just made up an Ultra Cam string for it.It is definitely a fast and flat shooting bow,the low grip is just perfect for me.A well made and solid bow,a keeper!
