What are you using to check wind direction during a stalk? just looking for some ideas.

I have a Turkey breast feather attached to a piece of monofilament fishing line that I use,I hang it on my bow
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

I found a secondary feather from a red winged hawk on a piece of floss tied to the string of my assenheimer. I also use milkweed pods wrapped in duct tape.

Couple dove feathers currently.  Later in the season it will be feathers from recent duck hunts.

I grab a few milk weed pods before they open. I put a rubber band around them to keep them closed and clip or the tip. Then you can pull the floater out one at a time and let them drift. Not only do they show you wind direction but they follow the thermals as well. I carry one of the  pods in a pocket that is handy (depends on weather and what I am wearing). The cost is $00.00 and if you remember to grab a handful before they open on their own you can store them for use in the next early season.

I use waxed dental floss tied to bow string below top loop with the end frayed a little

madness522

I like unwaxed dental floss tied just below both loops. Can see it no matter what position the bow is in.

Unwaxed dental floss tied on top loop...the unwaxed frays better than waxed.

ishiwannabe

I use a(1) piece of old string material about six inches long. Tie a knot about one inch from the end. Then strip the wax with rubbing alcohol, and fray it up to the knot. I then attached it to my string between the upper silencer and end loop. It picks up a breeze nicely, and the wax left on the unfrayed section returns it to the original position so it is always ready to go.

It doesn't matter how or what you shoot, as long as you hit your target.

hickstick

I made up one like guru, 35mm film can stuff with milkweed fluff.  cut a whole in the lid and pull a couple out and let fly....

I kinda dig the un-waxed dental floss tied to my upper limb tip. Can pull it apart enough to catch just the lightest wind.

Oh Yea!... It's good to get chicken outa my front teeth too.  ;)

Im a fan of the milk weed and of cat tail fluff, Ive also saved down from birds Ive hunted and used it in the same way.  A feather tied on the string is useful but it only tells me where the wind is blowing right where Im at not where I want to be.  I like the natural stuff and it makes me feel better knowing I used all that I could from nature and my kills.
Hunt fair, hunt hard, no regrets.

I use a little piece of fur from my string silencer. Just yank her out, hold her up and let her go.
