It seems I can pick up a center cut recurve and hit immediately where I want repeatedly. I can shoot okay with a longbow but seems to take a few shots to get "in there". Anybody else experience this? Prefer it for this reason?

I love the lines of a recurve but am a much better shot with a longbow...... Don't know why  

Is the longbow also center cut? I would notice a difference if I tried to shoot the same arrows out of two recurves - one center cut and the other cut a ways out from center.

I don't notice any difference shooting my recurve cut just inside of center and my longbow cut just outside of center as long as the arrows are tuned to each bow.

I prefer center cut longbows LOL

I have one longbow that isnt cut to center and it shoots left for me

If the arrows are spined correctly for the bow they should hit right where you are aiming be it center-shot recurve or before-center longbow. If not... you are not tuned properly.

I own and shoot almost all longbows but I do have one Bear Kodiak Magnum that I use when hunting out of a blind. All of my bows except one are either cut to center or just barely 1/16" before center. I can shoot them great just like they are, and when I have shot recurves and longbows that are cut past center (Black Widow recurves are cut 1/8" & 3/16" past center depending on the model) I do find however that when tuning it is beneficial at least to me to build my side plate out if the bow is cut to or past center. I like to build the strike plate out to atleast 1/16" past center and many times build it out to around 1/8" past center.

Funny thing is that after shooting longbows with shelves not cut to center I shoot a center cut bow and can't shoot worth a hoot.  Hard for me to pick up a good sight picture unless I really cant the bow because I anchor up next to my eye.  

While I was practicing before a 3-D shoot a fellow handed me his bow and one of his arrows to shoot after I inquired about the make of the bow.  I completely missed the target to the right (right handed) and the arrow stuck in the wood frame.  I was embarrassed but blamed it on the center cut shelf....lol

New to archery, but I'll throw in my admittedly limited experience.  I have a 61 Kodiac Special, a Martin Savannah longbow, and a Still Hunter longbow by White Wolf Archery (the wife's).  I primarily shoot the Savannah and love the bow, but I find the Still Hunter by far the most accurate for me.  The Still Hunter is cut 1/8th inch past center.  I love the wife's bow so much I'm saving up to get my own.

That sounds like something I'd say Doug!!!

I too usually have this issue, but have been shooting both my 50# longbow and an old 45#Bear Grizzly side by side with the same arrows lately (both paper tune slightly weak with the arrows)and have been getting better at hitting, regardless of which bow I pick up.
