I couldn't agree more with Blake's review of the Smoke model. I've had mine for a few months now and I still love to shoot it! In fact, the other day I literally shot it until I couldn't pull it back to full draw any more! Like when you're working out and realize you can't get one more repitition out. I don't know how many hundred times I shot those 5 arrows before that happened, but time flies when you're having fun.  :D

This has me itching for mine....congrats and great work as always.

Well I finally got around to fine tuning this beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Once I dialed in the correct brace hgt and nock point. I borrowed my brothers chronograph and ran some arrows through it. First of all my arrows are cut 29" B.O.P. and this was with finger release. I tuned the bow with Grizzlystick Alaskans with a 200gr head.

cedar shaft 60-65 spine..150 gr head/537 gr->168 fps

Easton axis 400 200 gr head/508 gr->175 fps

Easton axis 400 250gr head/558gr ->172 fps

GT Trad 5575  175 gr head..534 gr -> 168 fps

Grizzlystick Alaskan 250 gr head/728 gr->158 fps

The bow draws 54.3# at my draw length. I think the thing that impresses me the most about this is that once the brace hgt/nock point was found I did not have to adjust it at all. all the arrows flew great. I generally wait a while before commenting on a bow because a shiny new toy has no faults. That being said and having put close to 500 arrows through this bow. I would put this little rocket launcher against anything i've owned.

Great review.  I use a lot of the same arrows, and my timberghost will be very near the same configuration as yours. Great job.  Made me a lot more excited.

your going to love it. I ended up with a brace hgt of 8.5". I am thinking of ordering some FMJ since I really like the way the Axis flew.

So speed is a bit dissapointing?

I get he following numbers according to your input....

175 fps at 9.4 gpp
172 fps at 10,3 gpp
168 fps at 9.9 gpp
168 fps at 9.8 gpp
158 fps at 13.4 gpp

I don't think the speed is disappointing at all. The bow tested faster for me than others i've owned, except for one and that was a much higher poundage. you have to take into account this not a Blacky Schwartz kind of test! its just me flinging different arrow configurations. im sure the bow speed would be increased with more consistant test parameters. The bow is as easy a bow to shoot that ive owned. it hits where you aim.

I don't find that disappointing at all. I think those are very respectable numbers. I can't get any where near the numbers Stu's calculator says I should be seeing from my bows. I question the chrono on the techno hunt program, which is the only time I've seen my arrow speed. I question Stu's prediction, and I question how clean my release is. Enough to seek out a good, calibrated chrono? Nope. I'm only interested in how consistent I can be and the relative speed difference between different setups across the same chrono.
