Haven't had the bow long but it's a sweet little bow and when Curt said he needed someone for the April hunt I didn't hesitate. No luck on my first hunt with her with a buddy of mine, to many hens around taking all the gobblers with them when they left the roost but it was good to hear all the gobblers so fired up.

My son has a great spot and had been watching his birds patterning them and told me to come over and set up in a spot I've not hunted before. There's a railroad track running right down through this property with high steep banks because it goes over a creek a short ways from we're I was sitting. It seperates two fields and has timber on both sides running down the tracks.

It was a cold morning for May 1st, 37f  but the birds were booming in every direction. I got there early so I could build a ground blind in a couple ceder trees next to a big brush pile the birds were really going. 10 maybe 12 were talking so when I was finished and decoys set at 12-15yds I gave a few soft yelps to let them know I was around.

Of course a bunch responded but it doesn't take much sometimes. Waited 10min repeated same response, love it!
10 more, same, time to be quiet.    :D

About 15 min later boom! double gobble field behind me over the tracks there down. I give some soft yelps bam! double again I answer more aggressive there fired up time to put the call down again. There's a track crossing a hundred yards away that we have watched them cross many times. I set up so when they do they will see the decoys and hopefully head my way. Not today, 30 seconds after the last double gobble I hear gravel noise then feathers dragging. Them dang birds came strait up over those steep tracks right strait behind me they went around the brush pile and that gave time to shift my position for the shot.

The first two birds that popped out of the brush side by side looked like twins nice birds a headed strait for the first hen ignoring my jake. They paused and were looking here over I started my draw on the closest bird but the other bird caught me. He didn't putt but knew something wasn't right and jumped and started to walk spooking the other bird too. That's when I heard the other bird strutting and he was heading strait for the jake decoy. Nothing I love more then watching them strut in like that, he pulled side by side with the decoy facing strait at me he never even noticed me drawing down on him from my two cedar trees. He was down quick!!!

Fun hunt, fun bow to shoot glad I could be part of it. Thanks Curt! Thanks for looking   :wavey:

Some of the picks were taken with my cell phone and not the best.

You really haven't hunted the old fashion way until you've done it from one of these Indian houses.(The Tipi) "Glenn ST. Charles"

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

Tracy, great shot brother. I really like those front and back end shots on Turkeys. Spring Turkey hunting is just about fun as it gets.

Congrats, Roy
