Bow Comparison

I'm fairly new to trad archery and have quickly become addicted. Was wanting to upgrade my current recurve bow.
Can anyone possibly give me feedback on Black Widow vs. Morrison bows?

Morrison's are a whole lot nicer to the eye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But that's just my opinion!

You need to shoot both and more. It comes down to personal preferences-that is the main reason we have so many bowyers.

They are both top of the line bows. For me, BW's are easy to shoot accurately. I have never shot a Morrison but I have only heard great things about them. I doubt anyone would be unhappy with either.

Tough call. I own several of both. Both shoot great. BW has been in business a long time. Same with Bob. Both answer the phone when u call. Shot some of each.

I bought a BW-- NEW> I have owned several Morrisons. NONE NEW.. Probably will never again own a BW.JMO.

Haven't shot a Morrison and honestly I don't plan on shooting one or really any other bow since I got my Widow PLx almost a year ago. It is the smoothest, quietest, fastest longbow I have ever shot and it fits me perfectly. The only bow I would consider getting now is one of Black Widows recurves.

If I were you I would test drive a Widow and see for yourself.

BWs have been my main bow for 18 years. I also own a Cheyenne, and have owned Cheyennes in the past. They're both great bows, I don't have a bad thing to say about either. I'll always have a Widow on my rack.

Both very quality. You're essentially comparing a BMW to a Mercedes or a Lexus to an Acura. I favor Bob's bows myself. He is a smaller operation cranking out quality and he's also a mad scientist always trying to improve on design. He is widely regarded as one of the 'performance bowyers.' There are so many great choices out there. We live in a golden age of trad archery. Check out Toelke and Cari-bow as well.

They are both made really well. Great followings, reputations, warranty's, ect. But in my honest opinion they are not "better" than many other brands, for far less money.

There are now numerous "high performance" bows and gifted bowyers out there, and you have chosen 2 of the best. You can't go wrong with either but you really should shoot them before you decide. Your style and individual preferences will determine which one is for you, and PS there is no "perfect" bow-- we have all been looking, and buying, and looking some more, for yesrs!

W/ a recurve, Widows have a 9'' brace and a Morrison 6 1/2'' brace. A lot of difference in power stroke there. I found the Morrison a bit picky w/ finger pressure on the string. Widow, as stable as they come. I much prefer the older Widows(mid 1990's and older) over the newer limb design. They just had that thump at release. Really liked the Asbell grip over their standard. As you can tell, I favor the Widow over the Morrison.

I've has both and both were very well made bows. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either. But I have found that you don't need to spend so much on a bow to get the same performance.

How far are you from Berrien Springs MI? They may both be at the Compton's Traditional Bowhunters Annual shoot there in June and you could try both out on the range.

Both are top of the line with faithful followings. However, they have a very different feel IMO. I don't own one but I've shot lots of them, and nothing feels quite like a Widow. Not that they are better, just different. If at all possible shoot before you buy.
