Okay Gang, I need some help. I recently received my first set of Douglas Fir arrows and am looking for a broadhead. Three blades are easier for me to sharpen, as I won't be taking them off the shafts to sharpen them like I do when sharpening two or four blade screw in heads.

Paper tuning, I'm showing a tad weak with a 1/4-1/2" left tear, using 145 grain field point, so I'm wondering if maybe I should try to land on something in the 135-140 grain range. Suggestions?

I bet 125 would work fine for you. If not MA3 heads are about 135 and still affordable.  I'm not the best two blade sharpener either and have been having outstanding success with two blades and the little rada wheelie sharpener. Might try one...

Don't forget,it's a simple matter to add a few grs of lead up in the broadhead ferrule, just ahead of your 5 degree taper.Five,#6 shot would equal 10 grs.Tweaking head weight this way can really increase the number of broadhead options available to you.

I'd go down to at least 125 and try again with field points, if that is working I'd suggest Woodsmans.

Well, I went cheap and went two blade. I just ordered some Zwickey Deltas.

Zwickeys won't let you down! The best blood trails I've had yet have been with Delta's.

I like Zwickey. They are cost effective, but I don't consider them "cheap". Rather, I think they are a good choice. I think you will come to like them also, especially when they get a little blood on them.

accusharp + zwickey = easy = sharp= good
