Thought I might get a chance last night - finally had 4 sightings (one I think was a "returnee"). First ones since the 5 I saw in one (cooler) 3 day period during Sept. One Adult and two yearlings (the "adult" was one I hope to get to brag on before the season is over). All of them (except the returnee) were close enough (for me) to take a shot at with my wood bow and Cane arrows - but just never gave me a shot. I was so happy to finally see Deer again that not getting a shot op was the least important thing in the world to me, right then (all of last night -   :p  ). Also None of them (nor a Grey Fox, that hung around for 25 minutes) ever had the foggiest notion there was a potential killer   ,  lurking in the tree, not 10 yards away from them, all the while they were there   :saywhat:

The Happy   :archer:  shall return this evening, Good Lord willing!

For hunting to have a future, we must invest ourselves in future hunters.

love the close encounters, even if tthey don't end up with meat on the pole. Sounds like a great evening Bern.

Hunting with some of those cane arrows eh? Very cool!Best of luck.

Hang in ther Bernie, a shot will come when you least think it will. Besides you don't have to drag a close call out. But I sure like to eat them criders. Good Luck

Killdeer

I bet he's got a sweat built up right about now. Every drag is a mile and a half up a 45 degree slope.

And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Thats what hunting is all about!  I can admire a hunter that passes less than perfect shots and is content just enjoying the sights of animals in the woods.  Ya done good Bernie just keep after them and one of these days that perfect shot will be there waiting for you.

Strangly enough, last night was weird - No Deer moving, for me, or a lot of other folks. But the squirrels (8 or 10 where I was) were going nuts. I think it must have been their night to "rut". They were chasing each other through the trees and on the ground, screeching at each other and at random, and just in general keeping the woods all stirred up. Never even paid any attention to me there in the tree. No wonder the Deer were layin' low - LOL.
