Those who know me associate me with the longbow almost exclusively. However, for the last week or so, I have been playing with the recurves. I have a Red Wing Hunter, a Kodiak Super Magnum, and a Jeffery bow of unknown nomenclature that I have been shooting.

I ordered the Jeffery somewhere around 1990? at a good price. According to the dealer who got it for me, it was a pre-production prototype or some such designation. It has the classic Jeffery look but no company logo or markings. It may not have been selected for general production, but it sure flings an arrow nicely.

All these bows are cut a lot closer to center than any of my longbows, so they seem to handle quite a selection of arrows quite easily.

Sometimes it just fun to deviate from your normal routine. Surprisingly, accuracy was very good, and even though I have not shot them regularly for a long, long time, I would not hesitate to hunt with them today.

Going to a shoot next weekend, so I may take both the longbow and a recurve. That ought to be fun!

Variety, The spice of life........I like shooting different stuff. Have fun, that's what's important!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

I always shoot one course with a recurve, and one course with a longbow.  Variety makes it interesting for sure.

Hey Greg, will TBOF do the multi-category event at Fall Rendezvous? If so, I might give it a try. I do plan to take a recurve to the TBG Alzheimer's shoot this weekend to see how well I adapt back to it.

I am trying to decide whether to take the Red Wing Hunter or the Super Kodiak Magnum. Probably the Wing.

I shoot both longbows & recurves. I like them both & see no reason I shouldn't enjoy the bows I like????     :archer2:

I like the Howard Hill Big5, but also shoot Fox longbows & now & then a Tim Meigs Duo-Flex.

I also like my Blacktail Elite, Fox High Sierra, & am getting back to the bows I started with in the 60s Bear recurves.    ;)

Some guys like one bow, some like many. There is no wrong choice
