Well I missed my first turkey with the Recurve today but I am not disappointed.  It wold have been a slam duck with the compound at a mere 12 yards.  I had he bird between 10 and 15 yards d=for about 5 minutes before I could get a shot out of the blind.  When I finally had a shot and started to draw he got very alert and putted.  I new he was going to take off and just rushed the shot before I had come to full draw hitting left which is normal for me if I do not hit anchor.  I was afraid to continue to draw thinking he would take off and got  little over confident that I could still  make the shot.  He was just a jake but would have been nice to harvest him.  Well it was just the second day of our season and my first day out so hopefully I will be able to make amends.

A clean miss is better than a bad hit, any day!

Keep after them and it will happen.

I missed three birds before killing one with a compound. All at less than 20 yards. Then I wounded the first bird I shot at with a longbow, and cleanly missed two others in one day. I have also been busted many times since. I seldom hunt from a pop up blind, and prefer natural cover.
Keep at it, and keep your chin up. When you do finally make that perfect shot, it will be more than worth the time it has taken. The hunt is the trophy, not the animal!
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.

Turkeys are a hoot, don't give up just yet. When you get the birds in that close, it will simply be just a matter of time before you get one.

Hunted again this morning and had a great looking long beard 30 yards from me strutting around. Just wouldn't commit to the decoys.  Was a great morning though watching him strut around all colored up.

I missed 5 different turkey shots in three days a few yrs back. We were hunting on Ft. Carson Army Fort. ALOT of birds. My son and I had a great time hunting and driving around the fort on tank roads in my mini-van.

Keep at it!  Don't even think about doubting that you'll get one soon.  I almost picked up my blind and moved too early this morning.  You can read the rest in my long winded thread here in the Powow......

Good luck!  You'll get him, I can feel it. I have one more tag to fill myself.

Keep at it! I was out the other day and stalked to within thirty yards on my hands and knees, and could have shot, but just didn't feel comfortable. It was a fun experience to be that close to two big gobblers!
