With unselfish help of fellow tradgangers my heavy wood arrow setup was pure success. Now due wish for longer distances I am going for lighter setup and need advice again.
I am shooting Tomahawk longbow 50#@ 28 inch and pulling it 29inch. Its about 53# on my pull. Tomahawk is +1/16 cut center.
I need help with choosing spine of woodies from surewood shafts. I would like to shot shafts about 30 inch long with around 150 in front. So which arrow spine should I order
I know that ordering test package would be the best idea but I live in Europe and shipping and customs costs are enormous so if possible I would like to use Yours experience

on that i would try 50 55 spine with say 145 150 heads    have fun  

I think with your 29" draw and would like an arrow about 30" and a 150 gr. upfront and a modern low stretch string I might go with a 60-65# spine in a wood arrow.On 3Rivers website they have a dynamic spine calculator,plug in your spec's.

What are you shooting on your heavy wood arrows?  Going from a 220 point to a 150 I would reduce spine about 8-10 pounds.

Here is my calc for your set-up. Bow weight-50# + 5# for 29" draw + 10# for 30" arrow +5 for 150 gn point + 5 for ff type string. The riser cut will likely be -5#. So 70# is a good place to start. I'd recommend a test kit including 60-65, 65-70 and even 70-75; that should cover your range,  shooting styles can have some impact too.

If you go a bit weak, it is very easy to tune your bow to the shaft instead of the shaft to the bow.  Remember it's a "system", and not just one or the other.  Tweaking  your brace height or your side plate is very easy to do.
