Getting ambitious and wondering if anyone has seen plans for building an achcam. I have only seen one old Victorian pic floating around that could be utilized. Any woodworkers out there that can offer help, it would be appreciated.

I have an ashram of sorts.  Took a tall ikea cabinet, put a coat hanger rod in it, drilled the rod took some dowels, have them hanging down on a bolt, t hangers for my bows, couple of side hooks for quivers, cases and such, room on the bottom for boots bucket of arrow and so on,can hang 6 bow inside with extras..

It is basically a cabinet in which you store your bows, arrows, quivers and other archery equipment.  It dates to the late 1800's early 1900's or so.  Actually it is spelled Ascham.

Could it have been named after Roger?

Roger ASCHAM wrote Toxophilus, a book about longbows which was the first archery book published in English sometime in the 1500's.

Yes it was named after him I think there is a picture in "The witchery of archery" book. It's basically a "gun" cabinet with pegs in it to hang longbows. Just swipe your wifes china cabinet and convert it!

Interesting, when we place so much emphasis on proper bow storage; hanging them vertically or horizontally on perfectly level pegs, etc. And we are talking, for the most part, about laminated bows with carbon and/or fiberglass layers that are considered to be darned near indestructible if they're not abused.

Here we have someone, an expert in the field, talking about storing self bows by standing them on the limb tip. My how we have progressed    :)

Thanks for shining some light on this fella's. Seems like tongue and groove cedar would make a killer cabinet. Where are you in NC Tom?
