Before you get started, we want to thank you for your repeat visit to South Florida. I truly enjoyed being a part of your Osceola hunt.

And don't forget...when you reach your final dieting goal....you must give me credit for all the sweat I made you deposit while sitting in the all black, ice fishing/turkey blind.

Although roomy, it must have been a bit like a sauna.

I know your hunt could have had a happier ending, but at least we didn't get attacked by a broom toting, turkey taming, anti-hunting, neighboring grandmother. (Don't leave this part out.)

I think I am in line to take that beating for you in the future, and I am not looking forward to it.

Are making grandmothers mad?  and making your clients take the beating?

Day one, set up good and early about an hour before daylight  I'm in a brush hogged meadow 100 yards from the roost .heard three fly down at sunrise. No gobbling stayed till noon. It's getting warm in the blind. Break for a little lunch then back in the blind, hoping a gobbler comes by on his way back to roost. No luck today.

Yes irv , I did loose 6 lbs but I put 3 of it back in gatorade

Day two setup new blind where I heard the hens go, trying to get in front of them.sat in the ice fishing hut till 9. Only can shoot out the door but not bad, problem was it was facing east into the morning sun. Too bright,moved back to first blind and called in a hen around 11:00 but no gobbler thankful for cool ax shirts and Gatorade it's 85 outside the blind!  Afternoon sit had no birds but heard a couple fly up. Trying a new spot in the am.

Yeah...yeah...we all want to hear the good parts....

Patience grasshopper, here's the rest of the story. Day three found me set up across the dirt road (driveway) from the roost trees.at daylight thre hens sailed off the roost and landed in a field. Too bandits private property.shortly afterward the gobbler flew down and gobbled when he hit the ground.did a little calling but he walked straight to the hens across the road.in the meantime I spotted something behind my decoys. My first thought was man that's Abigail house cat.no wait! Tufts on his ears that's a bobcat! Quick grabbed an arrow nothing yo shoot at but his head, tried to shoot him right between the eyes.missed, shot over his head

   

Ok final chapter. Sunday afternoon moved the blind across the dirt road(aka turkey lovers lane) any bird coming to the field or crossing the field will see my decoys. Spotted a gobbler and five hens working my way he is in full strut for about 45 minutes. One by one he tries to breed a hen before fly up.every one gave him the brush off and flew up to roost.all alone now so I gave him a spit and drum call .marched right over to me and flew over the gate.went into full strut again to intimidate my jake decoy.really close now 2yrds so close first shot hit the hub. Second shot at 4yrds hit him high and forward of the drumsticks. Jumped up flapped and knocked the arrow out. The he slowly walked up the lane into the lady's yard that has been watching him for the last two years.tried to recover the bird without disturbing her that night. No luck.went back in am and searched again with.the dog and found nothing. Grandma is not a happy camper!

sounds like a great trip, sorry about losing the bird.

Jim...the awesome calling talent you presented pulled that Tom off his live hens, over the gate and right into your lap.
Most turkey hunters will admit this is a Miraculous feat.
He was hit hard...wobbled straight down the fenceline and all ths folks we called would have bet he was a goner.
A thorough search in the morning turned up nothing.
In the afternoon the neighbor's Grandson reported your bird was back in Grammas yard, favoring his wing but eating with the other "cute" wild birds.
They are tough!
No one is more sorry than Jim and I but...

He will be here next year.
