I just bought a Samick Journey, the 64" version of the Sage.  I put on string silencers and it quieted right down.  But, it still has a very low level deep sound to it - probably caused by the string.

That said, I'd recommend wearing out the factory string and learn to shoot you bow first.  Nothing wrong with it.

Get yourself a bikini string from Allen at Leftiesrus. It won't compensate for form issues but it will quiet the bow down and improve performance.

A good string will help the bow a lot.  Will it help someone just starting out?  Depends...not nearly as much as it will someone with experience though.

I put a 20 strand (24 in the loops) BCY-X string on my 64" Journey (pulling 51@31) and got lots of comments on how quiet it was shooting arrows that were 8.5 gpp.  One small set of cat whiskers is all I have on it for silencers.
