I have heard and read great things about Coffey and his Java Man bows. Also know some of his history building Shrew bows.  Can't find anyone who doesn't like both, which is great.

I have never owned a shorter longbow but very interested. Looking for any info you have on any of Java Man bows and or how they compare to a Shrew?  Which would you prefer? (I know bows fit everyone differently) Any difference in quality of woods or finish?  Pros or cons to each style?

Curious if either will be at Compton in Berrien Springs this June.  Thanks for any info.

I recently picked up a Coffey made Shrew. It's a two piece Carbon and foam Super Shrew. 58"  and 48 @ 28".

I draw it 30" and it is as smooth as any longer bow I own. Don't have any problems shooting the shorter bow. It's fast and quiet and a pleasure to carry and shoot.

I can't say enough good about Gregg. I'm sure Chuck is building a heck of a Shrew but I'd be inclined to go with an elkheart if I were looking for a short longbow .

I have  a SS Samauri and it is one of the best shooting bows I have ever had.  Bows come and go, but I don't think I'll ever trade or sell this one, except for maybe to drop down in weight in the future.

I had a 64" Java Man several years ago, but traded it in a fit of stupidity.  As I remember, it was as good a shooter as the Shrew with the only difference being a smoother feeling draw due to the longer length.  If I ever get a chance at another one, I won't make the same mistake again....hopefully!

I've had 3 Coffey made Shrews. A 60,a 56,and a 62. I've also had 3 McCullough made Griffins. And they all seem very close to me in all aspects. I mean there are subtle differences,but are more alike than not. The 56" I had was a beautiful bow. I just had a bit to much weight built into it than I liked. All the workmanship on the bows were top notch. I like a longer bow. A lot of guys are shooting these Shrews that have a draw of more than 28" and love them. I just got it in my head that I need one 62-66" long. Its what I like. The design that the Shrews/Griffins have is just wonderful. They shoot great,and are just graceful to look at strung. I've liked them all,and I bet you will to.  rat'

Just took delivery of a new Falcon from Java Man on Friday.  Great bow!  Highly refined 58" longbow.

Take a look at the tanjavur longbow as well I have a 56" its a an awesome shooting little bow. And very quick little bow, he has a new model can'r remember what Greg called it, with a little more reflex in the limbs shot it at K-zoo  wow fast little longbow. Both are dead in the hand, quite and spit a heavy arrow very nicely.

The elkheart is similar to the classic hunter.

I think the new longbow is the Inferno.

Has a unique looking riser and is darn quick.

Did a little bare shafting this afternoon with the Falcon.  When I do my part the 340 axis shafts fly really well with 300 grains on the front.  Excited to step out a ways and see how they do...

My Java man falcon is honestly the smoothest shooting longbow I have ever shot. I used to have a few shrews but from here on out it is all Falcons for this guy!

I have a Javaman Assyrian and I that bow really packs a punch and it has the best grip I have ever used.

Hard to beat a Gregg Coffey built bow. Great bowyer, and even better person !!!

The Coffey-made shrew classic hunter and the Javaman Elkheart are almost similar. The only two differences I noticed were:
1. The Elkheart tips have about 1" more reflex than the Shrew's
2. The Elkheart handle is just a little fatter than the Shrew's

Other than that, they are one and the same! Two great looking and shooting bows made by a great guy!!
