Start at 1/8th of the AMO length (a rule of thumb for any recurve)

My 95 Hunter at 7 3/4".  My 74 an 75 best at 7 1/2" with ff padded string.

I think the brace height range spec for a Martin/Howatt Hunter is 7" to 7.75".I have mine right at 7.5",shoots great there for me.
