I am interested in hearing from those that have shot both the Toelke Whip and the Caribow Featherhorn.

My interest is in the 64" length with the 2 pc systems. I realize the Whip uses the Bow Bolt and the Featherhorn uses the socket style.

You don't have to have experience in the 2pc versions to respond; as long as you have shot both models.

I know "I can't go wrong with either model"; but I am interested in hearing from those with experiences. Thanks for your help.

Joe, as is the case with almost all "bow vs. bow" comparisons, it is difficult at best to get one that tells you much. I have had Dan Toelke make me a number of bows, mostly Whips. If I wanted a bow built today I would call Dan simply because I think there are none better. I have never shot one but Abe Penner builds beautiful and judging by posts here concerning them, very fine shooting, well mannered bows. If someone at a 3d shoot had handed me a Featherhorn to put a few arrows through I could respond to your request. Reality is that the bow I shot may have been made for a 27" draw and my 29 1/2" draw made the bow seem somewhat lacking. I could reply to your post but again, getting an informed opinion on these bows this way is somewhat of a crapshoot.

Joe,

Jim is spot on.  I have owned both and would say you can't go wrong with either.  Ironically, I owned a 57# 2pc Whip that hit the wall at my draw length.  I actually favored the Lynx to the Whip based on mass.

I do favor the locket socket connection, but as stated both are absolutely legitimate.  The only thing worth mentioning with Toelke is your riser material is pre-determined should you choose a two piece.  Linen micarta is requisite with Dan.

If wait time is a factor then your answer is easy.  Dan can turn them around faster than any bowyer I've dealt with.  I think his prices are also fair.

I give Abe the edge on artistry and outstanding ability to find some of the most stunning exotic woods.  Right up there with Big Jim IMHO.

Good luck!

I do understand the challenge of my question.  Also each bow and person shooting it is unique.

Wait time would only be a factor if it's 2 years +

Thanks guys....

Still waiting to hear more.

I've owned both although my Featherhorn was a 1 pc.  Bow for bow I like the Whip which I still own,but you may be the opposite.
As for the 2 pc I like the bow bolt and have no complaints at all with it, and as CB stated you are going to get Linen micarta for riser material with the Toelke. Which is fine with me as it adds a little more wt. and I'm not big on bows that look like fine furniture.
Dan is tops to work with and I have a 2 pc super D coming next week to sister up with the 2 pc Whip. Your choice, both fine bows, the Whip is a standout for me though.

I currently own two Caribow Slynx. Both are two pc. bows.
They are my favorite of all the bows I have shot so far. They are also the quietest. I think Abe builds the fastest all wood lam (no carbon) bow out there. I have had two bows with bow-bolts and both seemed fine but I like Abes locket socket better, all fibergless where it counts. I have never shot a Toelke.
