is there any advantage having a separator on a tab

Keeps your fingers from pinching the nock with short (58" and less) bows.

so if I read you correctly its pretty useless on a 64 inches longbow

I rip the separator out of each of my tabs. I like the flap of leather there but not the chunk of foam or anything that is suppose to space my fingers out.

It' keeps you from pinching the nock as you draw which, in theory gives a cleaner release. Also called 'can't pinch' tab. So in my opinion, yes. I use them.

does it trow your arrow high, left, right, down

I like the felt pad between the fingers myself.

It can cause inconsistent releases causing erratic arrow flight making you chase wild gooses tuning arrows. You can definitely get by without one if your conscious of how you place your fingers and recognize when you aren't doing it right and fix you grip on the string.

too much pressure on the arrow from your index finger will mess up the flight of the arrow. usually knock high, but it can make all kinds of things go screwy depending on variables.
The purpose of the separator is too keep you from putting pressure on the top of the arrow.  it doesn't matter if you keep the separator or remove it. the key is too keep pressure off the top of the arrow. Gloves don't have seperators. So if you use a glove make sure to not put pressure on the top of the arrow with your index finger if you shoot split finger.

I use them.  If your elbow is high the spacer helps keep the release consistant.  

Also, if you draw and he arrow falls off the rest or bumps up above the rest in the riser window you would probably benefit from a spacer.

I like the spacer but I found that most of them are too thin...I would still get too much pressure on my index finger. So someone showed me a little trick to thicken it up with adhesive velcro, and it seemed to work alot better resulting in a much cleaner release
 

I use finger spacers on all my tabs. Almost all olympic archers use the finger spacers on their tabs and their bows can be up to 72 long so don't be afraid to use one with a 64 bow.

I mostly use an olympic bow so i just use the same tab for all my bows, as shown above if its too thin a little foam or medical tape to build up th spacer works.

guess I will try a tab with spacer and see for myself

the more I shoot the more I relise that if it fits you good

and you have to try a lot of thing, since I started whit TRAD shooting my Whip bow and getting my form I changed a few times my anchor point to improve my shooting and also the way I hold my bow.....
everything counts to get good group.....
