I've always liked the idea of a longbow, but could never find anything that I actually liked shooting. The grips were just  too low for my liking. I tried a couple 3-piece longbows but the grips still weren't to my taste.  Well, I got talking with my buddy David Lange who makes Brush Creek Bows. I told him that I wanted a longbow, but I couldn't find anything I liked. I wanted one that matched the grip of my Wes Wallace mentor. He said he could do that and I was sold.

I went about picking out the woods that I wanted. I contacted some people trying to get some myrtle for the veneers and riser block, very few people got back to me. Curt (idahocurt) got back to me quickly and was enjoyable to talk to about bows and woods and everything. After I got the myrtle I new I wanted something unique so I picked up some African Blackwood that got used in the wedges and accent stripe.

David kept me updated with pictures of the bow as he was building it. Just keeping more and more excited.

Well, it just got finished up and I was able to shoot it. It shoots great! Came out to 64" & 48@28. Draw increase is smooth: 48.3@28, 50.7@29, 53.7@30, and 56.8@31. The grip is great and I'm excited for my first keeper longbow. It shoots a 32" 400 FMJ with a 250gr field point great!

Shane, you have found "THE ONE".  I'm looking forward to taking that for a test drive.

You did a great job picking your woods.
