Hi, I am 17 and I want to learn how to make a self bow. I need some infromation where I can get a low priced roughed out stave that is hickory. If any one has a roughed out stave that they want to get ride of let me know. thanks for all of your help. Drake

Weasle,
If you can not get a roughed out stave, start as many have with a board bow. Cut your own wood and while seasoning do your reading with some great books.

Traditional bowyers bible all 3 of them. There are alot of great books out there.

Start your board bow by going here.

Contact Dave who lives in Owatona, MN. If he does not have one, he can get you one from Brad Merkel. Dave's e-mail schfam@charter.net

I think you could also get one from Mike Yancey at Pine Hollow.  He is a sponsor on this site.  He's a real good guy to do business with and his is a real good business to support.

The Ferret's directions listed above by onemississipp are great.  Mine turned out good and shoots well!
