I have finally healed enough that I can start shooting my favorite bow again.  May, two years ago, I hurt my shoulder, and it has just healed to the point I can pull my 65# Wesley Special without pain or discomfort. Right now I only shoot 12 to 15 arrows at any one time, but I feel that if I go slowly I will be able to hunt with it again next fall.  Let the new guys take note:  If you hurt yourself, take it SLOW during your rehab. You can get back into form, but you must take your time and let it happen at the pace your body tells you is appropriate.

Sam, Happy you are back, it must have been hard.

Yep. Hurt my shoulder a few years ago.  Thought it would heal itself.  Nope.  Took therapy.  Cost me a nice buck.  But Im healed now and it feels great.  Congrats to getting back.

65# That hurts my shoulder thinking about trying to shoot it.

You can hop but you can't hide.
If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.

Having struggled with the same for years I am glad it's working out for you!  Slow and steady progress!

Thanks for the encouraging words. Snapper 1d, 65# isn't that hard to master for anybody of average strength and good health. The trick is to slowly build up to it to avoid injuries. The only real issue I am having now is impatience. Since I used to shoot it regularly and rather effortlessly, my ego says I should simply be able to pick it up and continue to shoot like old times. I am having to really pace myself and CONCIOUSLY slow things down.

I had my 3rd shoulder surgery Nov. 20. This morning I was able to shoot six arrows at 40#. I have missed the last two hunting seasons. It all takes time and excerise. Good Luck     MIKE

You may be able to handle that weight of bow but it is taking a toll on your shoulders.  I changed to lower weight bows when I turned fifty and glad I did.  I hope to be able to shoot until I am an old man, I have more than forty years behind the bow now.
