I've taken two in Manitoba.  I used a 47# osage bow.  The first was a 250# bear I shot with a flint head at 8yds. as it stalked the guide and myself.  The second was a 5 1/2' bear that was acting very aggressively while I was in my stand.  I shot it with an obsidian head and had a complete pass through.  Although I found both bears there was very little blood.  For the second bear there was none, even at the spot where the arrow went through.  Consequently I have gone back using my modern trad equipment for bears.  It seemed it would be easy to get a good hit with the primitive gear but never be able to recover the bear.

You stick it in the boiler room and my Bavarian hound will find it. This is exciting.

Oh nice! I didn't know we had a dog  :)
Woody is making me some points & I have 3 beauties that Billy Berger made me.
Now, if only the weather would warm up, so I could get outside & get this danged log whittled down!

I will always remember a bear taken with a Damascus tipped arrow.

Steve H. do you still have those pictures of that bruiser bruin?

Archery isn't something I do, it's who I am!
The road to "Sherwood" makes for an awesome journey.
