I'm looking at buying one of these takedown recurves. Any thoughts?

I've had a WW take-down recurve and my son has a Foley 3 piece longbow.  Great bows both of them and I don't think you could go wrong with either one.

I really like my WW Mentor.  I can't speak for the Foley.  Mine has bamboo limbs, myrtle veneers, cocobolo/myrtle split riser and is 55lbs 28" draw 62".  Get over 190fps with a 525 gr arrow.

I had a 2pc Wallace ROYAL. I loved it, what a gorgeous bow but at 55# it was a tad too heavy for me. Granted its a LB and not aRC but I woudnt hesitate to look at one of those...

The Foley's are now carried at Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear(sponsor) and they are getting rave reviews by all the locals trying them and buying them. Very high quality bows! Can't speak for the other bow you mentioned.

Just got a wes Wallace mentor 51@28 64" amo. All I can say is wow what a bow. Shoots with authority and where I look. I draw it to 31" and bow performs flawless. Can't comment on the other.

I've met and talked with Ron Foley at various shoots over the years. As fine a person as you'd ever want to know. His bows are first class.

I have never shot a Wallace but I hear they are great bows. I can testify that a Foley bow is one awesome piece of art. His bows feel like they are lighter than the listed weight and are very easy to shoot.

Either way you will be happy  

I have a WW Royal its a fine a longbow as any I've ever shot. I had a WW Mentor, still own a Brachenburry (vintage) that Wes made some limbs for. Wes is good to deal with and his bows are top notch.

I've owned "a few" WW... and I've shot a few Foleys.  Honestly, I don't think you would go wrong with either bowyer.  

Saying all that, I would suggest you shoot the one you want... before you buy.

I sold everything I had, and I had an awesome collection of world class bows to concentrate on just one bowyer. I did this to benefit my own shooting by always picking up something familiar. FOR ME, this has been a good thing, my shooting feels more confidence inspired. I'm very compulsive to purchases and bows are the worst of my addictions. The amount of beautiful bows and bowyers is too much for me to handle. I felt like chasing after the wind for that Holy Grail of Bows. I still lust after other bows, I never say never. Putting my mark on Wes Wallace bows was not something I did without MUCH consideration. He is a world class bowyer offering world class bows at a working man's salary. He has always given me more than I asked for in beauty, the chrono has always shown world class performance levels of bows costing twice as much.  
My bows are works of art, I use them hard as you can see the nicks and dings on my favorite bow. 56" B-Model Mentor 61#@28". If I could only have 1 bow, this would be it.

I've owned both and they were very well made bows. I do however really miss a 51# all macassar t/d that I stupidly sold in a fit of "gotta have another bow". There is just something about the northwest bowyers that they have risers that melt into your hand. Someday another Mentor will apprear in my hand.

I own a Ron Foley recurve, 62" 47@28" and it is a great shooting bow.  I just sent it to Ron because I wanted longer limbs, 66" and slightly lower poundage.  Ron is a super nice guy, great to talk with and makes a great bow too. I also shot a Wes Wallace and it too was a great bow and Wes also has a great reputation for making a great bow.  Like many have said, I dont think you could go wrong with either.

This was a very hard decision for me! I actually called both bowyers and Wes was the first to call back so he got the order, but Ron would have had I heard from him first. I'm going takedown mentor all bocote with wenge accents. Please post a pic if anyone has that combo. I still want a Foley though! I'm going to continue checking the classifieds and may sell my Assenheimer. Wes was great to talk to!

Did you hear back from Ron?  That is the only negative thing I can say about him as he can sometimes be a little difficult to get ahold of at times.  Not sure if you attend ETAR in July but Ron usually attends the show and has many bows for sale there.

Ron is slow, but he is one awesome guy. Worked with me for almost a year just to get a jig made like his. He wasn't making any money on this. I'd buy from him any time.
