I know that the mohawk is a mild reflex deflex and the widow is more radical. I was wondering how these two bows would compare. Fit & finish, shooting characteristics and which would be just more enjoyable to shoot. I have spoken to both companies and both were very helpful. I will be hunting and shooting 3D with this bow. Maybe some of y'all have had both. Thanks for any information.

Hermon

If you could fine an example of each near you to shoot would be the best way for you to choose.

Both bows have excellent reputations and make superior products.

I know that doesn't help you out, but either you chose, you will get a great bow.

I have an older BW LAG T/D and a Mohawk T/D both at about the same poundage. If I was going hunting which one would I take? Both.....one to hunt with and one as back up, both shoot well and I'm sure either would do the job. So I guess I really didn't answer your question....lol!

I've never handled a Mohawk, but I couldn't be happier with my Widow PL.  It was a great bow, and accompanied me on a 13-day Alaska backcountry hunt this past September.  Shoots extremely well!
Life is a whole lot easier when you just plow around the stump.

They both have such great reviews. I did shoot a widow five or six years ago,I thought it shot really nice. The Mohawk looks sharp with the bamboo that Vince uses. I will keep doing my research. Maybe at the spring fling in Alabama, I will be able to shoot one or the other.

Hermon

Vince's website still says he isn't taking orders.  Has that changed?

He told me that he was going to start building a few. He said he had several irons in the fire. I think if you call him,be patient and let him take his time, he will build them. They look like they are top notch bows.

If you have $1000.00 burning a hole in your pocket then by all means buy a Widow PL. I shot them at K-ZOO and they shoot great. Never shot a Mohawk but a lot of people like them.

I have shot several Black Widow PL longbows and in my opinion they are considerably smoother and more bow than the Mohawk... I had done research, read reviews, and then took a beautiful Mohawk for a test drive. Both are beautiful and well made, however the PL rose to the top for me. They are different so shooting both and deciding what best meets your needs would be good.

KAZ

If you don't have $1,000 dollars burning a hole for a new PL, they can be had used for $650 on up depending on age & wood types... I've seen them for less but it's more rare and usually the bow is less "mainstream" configuration.... Just a thought as the used ones shoot as good as the new ones. If you've got the money, by all means go for it! The Black Widow folks are awesome to deal with...

frassettor

I own 2 PLs and I will tell you that they are bombproof and a joy to shoot.

Don't know if it is too late already, but there is a heck of a deal on a sparrowhawk on the classifieds right now.

Hi
I've had both. As stated above both are great bows.  Both  shot well.  I loved the D shape of the Mohawk and I 'think' it was a little smoother to draw but the BW is a little milder at release. My perception is that the BW is a bit faster but I never ran a chronograph comparison of the 2.   I had success  on mule deer, whitetail and elk with both.
