Have had a great year hunting with my Predator Classic Recurve. Didn't get a deer with my bow, but had some great treestand and ground encounters.
I have a friend who is a wholesaler and I picked up a 50lbs Savanah. I set the nock on it yesterday, took a couple arrows out back, and all I can say is "WoW". I am really impressed with it, might be a longbow convert. It has good speed and is quiet.
A buddy and I are going to build a couple laminated longbows later this year from Binghams. If I can get the same results from a home build in a longbow, I will definately be a convert. Wish I would have shot a longbow a long time ago.

You can't go wrong with a savannah, great bows.

Ive had my 50 pounder for 4 years.
They are great bows and cast an arrow very well.

not to slam recurves, but to me there is something special about a longbow.

I am begining to agree, went out for a few shots this afternoon and...not bragging, but I m a much better shooter with this bow than my curves. Not saying I can't miss...but so far, I can't miss  

I would like try one. The quality and performance of my Hunter really has me looking into getting another in the Martin line.

Martin makes a fine bow, and worth the $ imo.

I have one Savannah, 50#, and love it! Fast, acurate, light in hand and beautiful!

I set up some full length (32") 400's. Put a 50grn brass insert, experimenting with tips. so far it shoots a 150 grn well, and I was shocked it shoots a 200 grn really well.

Finally a decent day outside. Got my 400 GT blems from Big Jim, got the spine testing target tips from him as well. Leaving them full length. Put in a 50 grain brass inserts. Loaded arrows with 175 grain, 200 grains, and 225. The 175 grain and the 200 grains hit perfectly straight, nocks centered right back to me and so do their fletched matched arrows. The 225s, not so good, they they drop like a stone, hit to the right of the fletched.
I am pleased/impressed thus far with the Savanah.
My question to you folks is should I go with 175grn, or 200 grn. They hit consistently close. I would only be hunting deer, and the occasional rabbit & squirrel.
Also, I will have several 225 & 250 grn target tips avail if anyone wants them .

I have a Savannah as well. It was the first trad bow I purchased, which was in 2003. Great bow!

Put your choice of broadheads on the fletched arrows and shoot them starting close and working back. They will tell you better than us which to use...

Thanks Kenny, that is what I was looking for. I am amazed at the weight of this bow throws. never would have thought of this heavy of stuff with my modern bows.
Going to look at Simmons Sharks, tiger sharks in 175 grain...when the time comes. Thanks for the input  

Had to leave Ohio and travel to South Carolina because my daughter had our grand daughter. Both are doing great.
Brought the Savanah to shoot and what happens??? Ice storm! Rode it out, weather broke today. Set up at 18 yards and shot both 175 grain and 200 grain tips. My shots were much, much better with the 200 grain. Very pleased with my first longbow
