Lots of options buddy !!! Cocobolo, Wenge, and Zebrawood are all great choices.

I kinda like the idea of giving Kevin free reign. He sure builds some beautiful bows.     I expect pictures when it comes in.

How the color combinations for difference pieces of wood complement one another will vary depending on the wood chosen.  The color of Bocate can vary considerably from tree to tree.

Here is a Robertson:

And here is a Bocate/Cocobolo I made for the Tradgang bow swap last year:

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Osage looks great with Bacote.
Pick a spot and concentrate!

Ziricote would be my first choice followed by M Ebony.  If you're needing just a thin accent stripe running through the riser (like on a longbow) a thin black and white sandwiched fiberglass stripe looks good and doesn't detract front the Bocote.

Mitchell you should have just bought my all bocote ARROYO!!!!    :biglaugh:      :biglaugh:      :dunno:

Something dark like Ebony or Wenge or Ziricote.

Mitch, here are some pics of a Lost Creek all bocote bow with just accents of black phenolic that I thought was really classy. Check out what Chad did with the tip overlays!

One more week and I'll be able to show you all what I think will be a really sharp RER LXR with cocobolo and ash   :)

Haven't bugged Kevin for pictures as I'm sure he's up to his eyeballs getting ready for K'zoo Expo where I will pick up my bow. It was in for the final spray coat a couple of days ago.

I own  a Whippenstick Phoenix, which has Bocote Limbs and a Bocote Riser. The riser had a flare of Wenge. You can judge it yourself:

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that string! [/i]

That Wenge and bocote sure go well together. The colors and the figure compliment each other.

Thanks guys that wedge is fantastic

Steelhead

I like something dark and rich as well.Ziricote would be my 1st choice!Wenge is also good and gaboon ebony.I think osage would be nice for accent stripes between the Zircote and bacote.

Canadian Idle

I agree, I think Wenge is WAAAAAAYYYY under rated for both, an accent and a main Riser wood. Especially when accented with a lighter wood such as Zebra or Bocate.....Lloyd

Mitch, you might have notice that Bocote can vary a lot! It varies in grain and in color.

Ask Kevin for a pic of the board to be used. I think if it's lacking grain and figure go with something with more figure. If the Bocote being used has plenty of figure go with something with less figure/contrast.

I can't remember ever seeing Bocote and Zircote together. That sounds like a great combination.

I also have seen some Bocote and Black Phenolic together that is georgous!

Agree with some of the other comments. I like a dark wood with Bocote. I highly recommend the Black Phenolic or Micarta though for the added weight in the riser. The extra weight really helps make my shooting more consistent.

I liked bocote and zebra...
sort of a lighter and darker bocote look as you mentioned...
This one had an amber tinted sealer on it so yours may end up more "brown and white"
