I am looking to book a hunt for 2014, I have always enjoyed DIY hunts but will be taking a older friend that wants to have higher odds of success. Anyone have a good experience with anyone?

           Thanks in advance

I've never hunted with them but I've looked at Fred Eichler's Full Draw Outfitters. They look to be Trad friendly.

Give Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear(sponsor) a call, I bet they know of a few.

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

centaur

Weitas Cr. Outfitters in Idaho. Very trad friendly and oriented, and good folks. I know their elk numbers are down due to wolves, but they might still be one to look at.

I looked into this as well and have not found any real good leads.

I hunted with Red Feather Guides of Gould, Colo. last fall for elk and was impressed with the entire operation, from the base camp in the high country to the guides to the horses. The guides did a great job of finding elk and/or calling them to within bow range. Both I and my hunting partner had shooting. Still have to be in decent shape and be able to ride a couple of hours at a stretch on horses. Their web site is  www.redfeatherguides.com

Check out Alans camps and prices for the western Montana area.  He is in a speciality unlimited draw area.  They screwed up a couple of years back in that they made it that unlimited draw and screwed up alot of locals and outfitters.  The elk numbers are up so you will have a great chance of seeing high numbers of animals.  I have hunted there two years and will be there this year.  My son missed a 360 class bull 3rd morning but he was 16 and shaking like a leaf....

Look up Mule Creek outfitters here on the sponsors list. I have hunted with John and his son Jacob and they are both Traditional Bowhunters and John has been hunting elk now for near on 15 + years.

I can not speak highly enough of them and their operation.

As you could imagine... Flying 1/2 way around the world to hunt elk one wants to make the right connection with an outfitter / guide... And I did.

I'm 52 and have killed a ton of critters with a stick bow, but I'll bet my bottom dollar I would be shaking pretty good with a 360" bull in bow range too!

My dad guided for them some years ago. Excellent operation.

I hunted with Fred Eichler (Fulldraw Outfitters) this last fall on a drop camp hunt and had a blast even though we didn't kill anything. We saw game every day and had some close encounters just not close enough! Fred and Michele are very personable down to earth folks, you won't be disappointed! Feel free to pm me with more specific ??? if you'd like.

I went on a drop camp hunt with Conejos Canyon Outfitters in southern Colorado up in the San Juan Wilderness. Seen lots of good elk but the weather really conspired against us.  I am going back this year with them.  The owner Kent Jarnagin is trad bow shooter.  His prices are very reasonable and its one heck of a good time.
