I see 3 rivers is up to $60.50 for s hundred 5.5 inch shields. Are there any other sources that may be cheaper? Thanks.   BILL

I just ordered 100, 5.5 inch shields from Kustom King. The total, with shipping, was $55.45. I'd love to find a more reasonable source.

I don't mind paying a fair price for a good quality product and I don't begrudge business owners the right to make a profit. I suspect that no one is getting rich on feather fletching.

That said, I don't understand why the price is so high. Feathers have gone up tremendously in the past 5-7 years. What is driving the price?

STINGY TURKEYS ! BLAHAHA.
Quote from Howard Hill.( Whenever he taught someone to shoot) "Son make up your mind right now if you want to target shoot or hunt as theres a world of differance between the two"

Actually Steve is on the right track with the stingy turkeys.

The reason is htat turkey feather fletching comes from domesticated turkeys. In years past many domesticated breeds looked (and had feathers like) wild turkeys. Mor erecently the all white breeds have become the standard. As time goes on I believe they are producing less and less quality feathers per bird because from the perspective of the poultry companies, the energy wated on feather production means less meat per pound of feed .... which means less profit.

So yes ... they are stingy turkeys ... mainly because they are stingy poultry growers and stingy consumers who don't want to pay even a nickel more per pound, and certainly don;t wanna pay for the more heritage type breeds with natural barred feathers.
